Barcelona 1700 From stones to people
Under the structure of an emblematic market with iron casting architecture of the 19th century, the archaeological site of 1700 Barcelona is found, which is unique in Europe, along with the old market, the memory of the events of 1714 and exhibitions, all located at El Born Centre Cultural, a new and exceptional historic venue that links three centuries of history.

An exhibition to recall Barcelona society of the 18th century, that was a dynamic and modern society, but also marked by the wars suffered between 1691 and 1714.
The exhibition includes around 1,800 objects that have provided valuable new information to portray everyday life and how the people of Barcelona lived three centuries ago. Linked to the permanent exhibition at the foot of the site, there will also be three exhibition areas displaying various objects. The most remarkable is the Sala de la Guerra (War Room), where a selection of over three hundred bombs are exhibited, of different sizes, types and materials which were discovered during the excavation.
The exhibition is structured in three major areas: La Gran Casa (The Home), La Ciutat pròspera (The prosperous City), La vida quotidiana (Everyday life), La Ciutat atacada i mutilada (The attacked and mutilated City) and La Ciutat refeta (The rebuilt City).

Created in 2003, Loop is a platform that focuses on the possibilities and challenges presented by video art, one of the key artistic movements of modern times. Each year, Loop hosts professionals and the public for a gathering where they can explore the latest technological and other developments in the moving image sector and see the work of new and established creatives who use video as their main tool.
Loop Festival runs for around 10 days and includes screenings, exhibitions, concerts, talks and other live events at numerous venues around the city.

The Torre Bellesguard is a unique venue in which to host this market where you will find unique and original pieces by young designers while enjoying live music and tasting dishes from all over the world served at the various food trucks located there.
International Musem Day The Night of Museums
May sees two excellent events for those who love visiting museums. On May 18, International Museum Day is celebrated, a European initiative that sees numerous institutions open their doors for free and put on a special programme of activities. The aim is to raise awareness in visitors about the key role museums and other cultural centres can play in the development of society.
At the same time, Barcelona holds its Night of Museums, when participating venues stay open for free until night, offering a different way to experience the permanent and temporary exhibitions currently on show, as well as the chance to enjoy different activities, such as family workshops, live performances and guided tours. This is also a global event, one that started in Berlin in 1997 and is now celebrated in around 120 European cities each year. Signed up to the two events in Barcelona are a wide variety of centres whose specialisations include art, archeology, history, author, ethnology, paleontology, ceramics, zoology, movies, design and much more.

This curious tradition is one hundred percent from Barcelona and it takes place on the day of Corpus. As its name suggests, it consists of making an egg "dance" upon the source of the fountains found in cloisters, courtyards or gardens. To ensure that the egg doesn't fall, the "trick" is to put the whole shell of an empty egg. The fountains are decorated with flowers and fruits.
In Barcelona there are several places in which to enjoy the tradition of "L'Ou com balla". Gran Teatre del Liceu Season 20242025
The Gran Teatre del Liceu is one of Barcelona's iconic venues and among the world's most spectacular opera houses. It begins the new season with an ambitious series of performances. The season will feature major works such as La forza del destino, Madama Butterfly, La Traviata and Lohengrin. The theatre will also be hosting dance performances featuring Afanador performed by the Spanish National Ballet and Hamer by Alexander Ekman performed by GöteborgsOperans Danskompani. There will also be concert performances of works by Debussy, Mahler and Monteverdi. And, finally, families will be able to enjoy the season for kids, the Petit Liceu, which will feature different shows, including La Barcarola and Rossini's Kitchen.
This exhibition dedicated to the celebrated contemporary artist Sean Scully is a unique opportunity to discover his powerful abstract compositions and his intense use of color. The exhibition is on display at La Pedrera and explores the multiple facets of his work, where geometries and chromatic nuances are in dialogue with Gaudí's unique architecture. A visual experience that combines modern art and historical heritage.
Scully is one of the great names in contemporary abstraction and has developed an unmistakable pictorial language based on stripes, lines and color blocking that evoke both emotions and architectural structures. His artistic process, which combines overlapping layers of paint and a palette rich in transparency, creates a unique depth that generates a powerful impact.
The exhibition brings together more than sixty works, including paintings, sculptures, watercolors, pastels and photographs, and offers a journey through more than six decades of artistic production. From his figurative beginnings in the 1960s to his characteristic minimalism of the 1970s and his current consolidation, the exhibition offers an insight into the evolution of a master of color and abstraction.
As a special feature, a large-scale sculpture created for the occasion is on display in the courtyard of La Pedrera, emphasizing the dialogue between Scully's work and Gaudí's iconic building.
